Jajpur, Odisha: According to police on Tuesday, a 57-year-old woman vanished after being pulled into the Kharasrota river by a crocodile in the Jajpur district of Odisha. According to a senior officer, the woman, known as Soudamini Mahala, was swimming in the river on Monday afternoon when the event happened in Kantia village, which is inside the boundaries of the Binjharpur Police Station. On social media, a video of a crocodile pulling a woman into the river went viral.

She was pulled into the river’s high torrent by a crocodile. The officer stated that although the villagers on the riverbank attempted to pursue the reptile, they were unable to save her. According to him, police and firefighters arrived at the scene after learning about the event and began searching the river. “We jumped to save the woman when we saw that the crocodile was pulling her into the river, but it was all for nothing,” eyewitness Naba Kishore Mahala said.
