NEW DELHI: Former army personnel and several members of the public are strongly opposing Spicejet’s five-year ban on senior army officer Ritesh Kumar Singh for abusing its employees. The public was informed on Tuesday. On Wednesday, there were ton of requests on social media for the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, and the Minister of Aviation to step in and help the officer. All members of the armed forces were urged not to fly with the airline.

In Gulmarg, North Kashmir, Lieutenant Colonel Singh is assigned to the High Altitude Warfare School.

Singh is accused of severely assaulting four Spicejet employees on July 26 at Srinagar airport after they protested the extra cabin luggage he was carrying prior to his departure on aircraft SG 386 to Delhi. The officer was found guilty of the allegations by an internal committee established by the airline and supervised by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which is governed by its Civil Aviation Requirements (CARs).

The Major made this accusation: Is Spicejet working hand in hand with the Civil Aviation Ministry? Before allowing Spicejet to make this “draconian judgment,” he also insisted on knowing whether the Civil Aviation Ministry had examined every footage.

“How is the soldier meant to travel back home from Srinagar next time with restricted alternatives of flights?” was the awardee’s provocative question. adding, “This is very unacceptable. Should active military personnel strike in protest of this ruling?

The public was also urged by Major Pawan Kumar to commit not to fly with Spicejet and to support the courageous soldier.

They started using the hashtag #boycottspicejet. “Urge everyone to send letter to the Civil Aviation Minister and MoS. minimum of 1,00,000 mails should reach them,” replied Savitha Rao, the creator of the India Positive Citizen campaign. “Atrocious,” stated Amit Bhatia of TNH Opinions’ narrative hub.How can an active army officer be placed on the No-Fly list? Emergency service or special duty status must be awarded to the armed forces. Army veteran Col. Rajendra Shukla urged the Indian Air Force to deny Spicejet permission to fly in its airfields.

Many others said they have added Spicejet to their No-Fly list in response to the message.

@HeyMrIndian, political satire, wrote: “He deserves this if he misbehaved with the staff.” Members of the Army are subject to the law. The Spicejet employees were seriously hurt and rushed to the hospital, according to post by Mukul Bhatnagar. Lt Col Singh ought to have been taken into custody. The army is owned by the nation. Never forget.

Spicejet refrained from commenting on the ongoing dispute.
