Social media users are discussing and comparing the maternity assistance systems in South Korea and India after video of an Indian woman residing in South Korea went viral. In only one day, the video—which was shared on Instagram by user @mylovefromkorea17, whose real name is Neha Arora—has received over 35 lakh views and thousands of likes and comments.

Neha Arora, who recently gave birth to kid and is married to South Korean, talked about the substantial government assistance she received in South Korea both during and after her pregnancy. She described the financial relief packages in her now-viral video, which astounded many viewers, particularly those from India.

Neha clarified in the video that the Korean government provided her with Rs 63,100 for medical examinations and medications as soon as her pregnancy was confirmed. She was also handed Rs 44,030 to cover the cost of public transportation, including her private vehicle, cab, and bus.

The assistance did not stop there. Neha continued by disclosing that she was given lump sum payment of Rs 1.26 lakh, known as “Congratulatory Money on Delivery,” at the time of delivery.

They continued to provide financial support even after the baby was delivered. The government provided her with Rs 63,100 month for the first year following the birth of her child. After that, she continued, the child would receive Rs 31,000 per month for the second year and Rs 12,000 per month from the age of two to eight.

In addition to the benefits’ generosity, the video has gone viral because it has generated lot of discussion among social media users.

Teni (@cktenny), an Instagram user, wrote, “If the Indian government gives money for pregnancy, then the population will reach trillion in no time.” “It is wonderful because Korea’s birth rate is dropping,” another user commented.

Others agreed, recognizing the rationale behind such government initiatives in South Korea, which has one of the lowest birth rates in the world at the moment.

One user expressed gratitude for the policy and the child in personal message, saying, “Suhan (the youngster) is really cute.” However, would like to know if your son has two genes. Please create movie asking Suhan if her child acts more like an Indian or Korean and if she has Korean and Indian ancestry.

However, other users took advantage of the occasion to draw attention to the glaring disparity in the two nations’ demographic dynamics. “What is causing Indians to criticize our law? One person said, “Bro, we really do not want the government to have children because our population is already quite large and if this kind of scheme is passed here, the lower class would start having hundreds of children.”

The film and the discussion that follows show how drastically different the two countries’ demographic problems are. With population control regulations in place, India is today the most populous country in the world. Meanwhile, South Korea is facing dropping birth rate, which has led the government to implement extensive incentives to promote births.
