The Kalyan Jewellers store on Sardar Patel Marg in the Civil Lines neighborhood was the scene of the gold theft on December 31.

In an alleged 14-
minute robbery, three ladies allegedly took gold earrings valued at about Rs 14 lakh from a Kalyan Jewellers showroom in Prayagraj,
Uttar Pradesh. The store’s CCTV cameras captured the entire episode, which has subsequently been extensively disseminated online.
The event happened on December 31 at the store on Sardar Patel Marg in the Civil Lines region, according to a Free Press Journal article. The women are seen in the CCTV footage sitting close to a glass display counter that held the earrings.
While engaging the salesperson in conversation, one of the women is seen swiftly lifting a jewellery box and passing it to another accomplice, who discreetly concealed it inside her shawl. Moments later, the trio exited the showroom without raising suspicion.
The store manager has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the unidentified women at the Civil Lines police station, according to the Free Press Journal. To find and identify those responsible, the authorities are currently examining the CCTV material.

Users’ reactions to the video were overwhelming once it appeared on social media. “These are events which lead stores to perform customer profiling, which are then criticized by individuals,” one commenter said. Having armed guards examine everyone as they leave is the only way to avoid this. “Distracting the salesman and sliding the jewelry into a shawl feels straight out of a movie,” another person commented.
“I think along with a security officer they should engage someone who can observe customers on the CCTV and alert it as soon as possible,” stated a third user who recommended more stringent surveillance inside stores.
