Following a terrifying occurrence at a high-rise residential building on Tuesday, a 57-year-old man in Surat narrowly escaped. According to reports, the man, named Nitin Adiya, slipped while dozing off beside a window in his flat on the tenth story of the Times Galaxy building in the Jahangirpura neighborhood.
Adiya became stuck in a metal grill that was placed outside a window on the eighth level rather than falling straight down. Before residents and the rescue crew started trying to help him, he hung upside down with one leg stuck in the grill for almost an hour
Videos that have gone viral online show Adiya clearly in pain while locals stared in terror. The videos show residents holding a safety net below as a precaution while firefighters assist the wounded. Many were afraid that he may slide if he made a single mistake, which made the scene quite stressful.
To extricate him without inflicting more harm, rescue crews worked cautiously and together. Everyone in the room felt relieved when Adiya was eventually dragged to safety.
