The case of Dr. Suhail Anjum, a Pakistani physician who acknowledged abandoning a patient in the middle of surgery to have sex with a nurse at a hospital in the United Kingdom, is currently before a medical tribunal. He has referred to his behavior as “shameful.”
Grim evidence against a Pakistani doctor who admitted to putting a patient under anesthesia for around eight minutes in order to have sex with a nurse has been presented to a medical tribunal. When the doctor is attempting to resume work in the UK, the incident that occurred at Tameside Hospital in Greater Manchester was disclosed during a fitness-to-practice hearing.
The 44-year-old Dr. Suhail Anjum told the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) that on September 16, 2023, he told another nurse to check on the patient while he took a “comfort break” during a treatment. He proceeded to another operating room, however, when a coworker discovered him in a “compromising posture” with an unidentified nurse.
In a statement on behalf of the General Medical Council (GMC), Andrew Molloy made sure that the patient was safe during the period when they were left alone and that the procedure went smoothly. However, Dr. Anjum saw that his actions might have endangered the patient.
