Violence against women, especially television presenters and journalists, is a troubling problem worldwide. Sometimes people are caught making fun of female journalists, even in front of the camera. Still, this kind of chaotic behavior from a robot is something no one expected. To the surprise of many, Saudi Arabia’s first humanoid robot, Android Muhammad, has sparked controversy for “harassing” women. This robot presented during the second edition of DeepFast in Riyadh sparked controversy on social networks for allegedly touching a journalist inappropriately during the presentation of the machine.
A second video of the same thing has been shared online, in which an AI robot stands next to a television journalist, Rawiya Al-Qasimi. What caught the attention of the viewers was the movement of the robot arm which looked like “horror”. Meanwhile, the discomfort of the reporter is also visible.
The footage caused an uproar online, with many citing the length of time it took. However, most people stopped arguing because they thought that the robot had “punished” the woman. The footage was posted on social media platforms.
