Creating a world record is a task easier said than done. Years of practice and patience, along with luck are key factors that can bear fruit. Over the years, many ordinary people have demonstrated extraordinary skills and registered their names in the Guinness World Records. Some achievements are so awesome that they will make you ask this question. Similarly, another record has made news recently. A Ghanaian man has set a new global record by hugging more than 1,100 trees.
Ghana student Abubakar Tahiru, a 29-year-old environmental activist and forestry student, set a new Guinness World Record by hugging 1,123 trees in one hour, according to the official website. In total, he hugged nineteen in one minute. This recording took place in Tuskegee National Forest, Alabama, USA. The description of the beauty is to be tied “both arms to a tree in a tight way.” Can’t hug any tree more than once and can’t damage any tree, otherwise you won’t qualify.
The Guinness World Record Instagram account shared a video of the feat. It showed Abubakar Tahiru running into the forest and quickly hugging various trees. This video has collected 10 lakh views so far.

Abubakar Tahiru revealed that the most difficult part of the act was that he had to quickly walk past the trees and meet the need for hugs. What made it more difficult was that he was fasting during Ramadan and could not drink water. “Achieving this world record is very rewarding. This is a significant demonstration to demonstrate the important role of trees in our environment and the urgency of environmental protection,” he said as quoted by GWR.
He hugs a tree every three seconds, surpassing the requirement of 700 to become the first person to record.
