On Saturday night, a Boeing 757-300 that was traveling from Corfu, Greece, to Düsseldorf, Germany, had to make an emergency landing after its right engine caught fire in midair. A bird hit is said to have caused the engine snag.

On Saturday night, August 16, a Boeing 757-300 carrying 280 passengers caught fire in its right engine shortly after takeoff from Corfu, Greece, allegedly as a result of a bird attack. This horrifying occurrence rocked the aviation industry. Condor, a low-cost airline based in Germany, operated this aircraft.
The aircraft had to make an emergency landing in Brindisi, Italy, when it was traveling to Düsseldorf, Germany. To learn more about this incident, continue reading.
Boeing 757-300 Flight Caught Fire Mid-Air
There were eight crew members and 273 passengers on board the Boeing 757-300 aircraft. At around 1,500 feet in the air, the right engine caught fire while the aircraft was in midair. In Brindisi, Italy, the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing. This incident’s video became viral on X (previously Twitter). Sparks may be seen coming from the right side of the aircraft in the video. According to the Indiatimes, when the plane passed over the port, the nearby residents heard a huge explosion-like noise.
According to NDTV, flight tracking sites showed the aircraft DE3665 departed from Corfu’s Ioannis Kapodistrias Airport at 8:19 PM EEST (10:49 IST). It landed at Brindisi airport 43 minutes later. As per some reports, after shutting down the faulty engine, the pilot tried to return to the departure destination but later continued flying on the other engine and landed in Brindisi safely. Because of the limited hotels in Brindisi, the passengers had to spend the night at the airport and reached Düsseldorf the next day.
Other Boeing Flight Incidents
According to NDTV, the Boeing 757 is among the world’s oldest passenger aircraft models. “Atari Ferrari” is the moniker given to it. It should be mentioned that Boeing aircraft have previously caused problems. A Delta flight last month from Los Angeles to Atlanta had to return after takeoff due to a fire in its left engine. The June Air India airline tragedy, which also involved a Boeing aircraft, is among the most horrific events in recent memory. 19 people on the ground and 271 passengers perished in the incident. In this instance, an investigation is underway.
