A Brazilian content creator’s pet boa constrictor momentarily threatened her, underscoring the importance of treating snakes carefully and being aware of their behavior in the home.

A Brazilian content creator’s pet Boa Constrictor, a species of snake, briefly threatened her in a shocking video that went viral on social media, underscoring the precarious equilibrium that exists between people and animals even in homes.
The encounter took an unexpected turn when Beatriz Lopes, a well-known Brazilian social media producer, was spotted approaching her pet snake in her garden. Lopes sits next to the big boa constrictor in the video and reaches out to pet it. There is a moment of fear as the snake suddenly lifts its head in what seems like an attack. However, Lopes leaves without incident.
Native to Central and South America, boa constrictors are non-venomous constrictor snakes that are frequently kept as pets. They can reach a maximum length of 13 feet and use constriction to hunt small creatures. Despite their enormous size, boa constrictors are usually regarded as non-threatening to people since they give birth to live young rather than eggs like pythons do.
Experts point out that misconceptions about these snakes’ behavior, especially when they shed their skin, are frequently the cause of fear around them.
The snake was going through ecdysis, or skin shedding, according to Lopes, who confirmed the incident’s circumstances. “A snake’s body becomes more opaque during shedding, which can make them feel vulnerable and defensive,” she explained. “A snake’s eyes are covered by a protective covering that momentarily hinders eyesight.”

The snake’s duller skin and clouded eyes were obvious signs of this natural process in the video. Lopes emphasized that the snake’s behavior was a defensive one brought on by momentary bewilderment rather than an aggressive one.
The significance of managing pet snakes regularly and safely was also emphasized by the content producer. According to her, “acclimating a snake to human touch lessens fear and possible aggression,” but during interactions, monitoring and appropriate safety precautions are essential.
Several videos on Lopes’ Instagram account show her interactions with the Boa Constrictor, giving viewers an insight into what it is like to be a huge reptile caretaker.
Although snakes and people can live together in controlled environments, wildlife experts frequently emphasize that in order to avoid mishaps, owners need to be aware of the normal characteristics of their pets, including as shedding, feeding reactions, and stress signals.
