This Animal’s Armour Like Skin Works As ‘Bulletproof Jacket’ Against Predators

Our world has a huge variety of plants and animals. There are about 8.7 million species of plants and animals in the world, according to scientists. Only about 1.2 million species – most of them insects – have been discovered and described to date. Each of these types has different features and characteristics that make them different from others. Some of them have natural defense mechanisms against external threats. One of these animals is the armadillo whose body ‘resistance’ is truly amazing. The armadillo has a type of armor built into its body, which is no lower than a bulletproof vest. Its skin is very tough, which protects it from predators.

A user posted a video of this animal on Instagram and asked: “Can you say the name of this animal?” It was posted on October 13 and the video has received two million views. The video received many comments, and many netizens recognized it as an armadillo.

Armadillo literally translates to “small military vehicle” in Spanish. The skin plate is covered in a small amount, and covers the epidermal scales based on keratin, called “scales,” which is the armor of its body. Armadillo skin can tan under UV light. Most species have strong shields protecting their hips and shoulders, and flexible skin covering their sides and back in many groups. The tail, upper part and top of the head are covered with other armor. The lower part of the body is covered only with skin and soft fur but not armor. Armadillos seem to rely heavily on their armor like upper skin, as a form of protection against predators.

It curls its body into a ball as soon as he detects an attack from a predator. Then, because of the strong and durable armor covering its body, the hunters could not eat it no matter how hard they tried. Armadillos are found in Central and South America and the United States. They are also found in Illinois and Nebraska. Armadillos eat insects and worms like worms. They are good swimmers and can hold their breath for 4 to 6 minutes.
