Man Covers All 286 Delhi Metro Stations in 15 Hours and Created A Guinness World Record

Shashank Manu, an independent researcher and enthusiastic traveler (he has visited more than 70 countries), expressed his passion for the Delhi Metro by covering all its stations in a short period of time in April 2021.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro is one of the busiest metro systems in the world, with 286 stations and daily traffic of over 17 lakh. It takes several hours to cover all the stations in the network, which is spread over 348.12 km on a strong network of 10 lines.

Shashank Manu, an independent researcher and a enthusiastic traveler (he has visited 70 countries), expressed his passion for the Delhi Metro by covering all its stations in a short period of time in April 2021. He got the Guinness World Records certificate only in April this year, due to a miscommunication that led to the record being given to Prafull Singh, a railway tax inspector. While Singh took 16 hours and 2 minutes to reach all stations on August 29, 2021, Manu reached the goal in 15 hours, 22 minutes and 49 seconds on April 14, 2021. Manu started his record-breaking Delhi Metro tour at 5 am on the blue line and ended at 8:30 pm at Brigadier Hoshiar Singh station on the green line.

As a result of the mistake, Manu could get the Guinness World Record in April 2023, two years after it was set. Manu came up with the idea of shutting down all railway stations in India during the COVID pandemic, he told The Indian Express. When Tube services were restored after the lockdown, he chose to make the record. Manu made it a point to photograph each bus station to capture his experience. In addition, he had other passengers prove the footage by having them sign the receipt as “independent witnesses”.

He even made an uncut video of the entire company to support his claim. He made sure that his videos were completely released during his travels. This allowed him to determine the opening and closing times of the train gates at each station.
