Online KYC in SBI Documents, Details and Guidelines

Online KYC in SBI – Here is the all details, documents and guidelines for individuals and non individuals.

KYC Documents For Individuals

  • Aadhaar Letter/Card
  • PAN Card
  • Voter’s Identity Card
  • Passport
  • NREGA Card
  • Driving Licence

Any document proving your identity and proof of address (permanent or current)

Minors

For minors under the age of 10, proof of identity of the person who will be holding the account must be presented.

In cases where minors can manage the account independently, the KYC identification/address verification process applies as for any other person.

NRIs

Passport and Residence Visa Copies, duly attested by

  • Indian Embassy
  • Foreign offices
  • Notary Public
  • Officers of correspondent banks whose signatures can be verified by an authorized (A/B category Forex handling branch) branch of the Bank

Small Accounts

The aggregate of all credits in a financial year is not more than 1 lakh rupees;

The aggregate of all withdrawals and transfers one month does not exceed ten thousand rupees; and

The balance does not exceed fifty thousand rupees at any time)

Submission of a photo certified by yourself and signature or thumbprint in the presence of the bank officer authorizing the opening of the account, who will sign to confirm that the person opening the account has provided their signature or thumbprint, perhaps in his presence.

(A small account will initially exist for a period of twelve months and thereafter for a further twelve months if the holder of such account proves to the Bank that he has applied for one of the officially valid documents within twelve months of the opening of said account, with the full easing provisions in respect of said account to be reviewed after twenty-four months)

A small account can also be opened with one of the following documents, which are considered as ‘Officially Valid Documents’

Identity card with photo issued by central/state government Departments, Statutory/Regulatory Authorities, Public Sector Undertakings, Scheduled Commercial Banks, and Public Financial Institutions;

Letter issued by a gazetted officer, with a duly attested photograph of the person.

KYC Documents For Non Individuals

Accounts of Proprietary concerns

Proof of the name, address and activity of the concern

  • CST/VAT certificate·
  • Certificate/licence issued by the Municipal authorities under Shop & Establishment Act.
  • Certificate /registration document issued by Sales Tax/Service Tax/Professional Tax authorities.·
  • Sales and income tax returns
  • Registration certificate (in the case of a registered concern).
  • Banks may also accept IEC (Importer Exporter Code) issued to the proprietary concern by the office of DGFT as an identity document for opening of the bank account etc.
  • Licence issued by the Registering authority like Certificate of Practice issued by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Indian Medical Council, Food and Drug Control Authorities, registration /licensing document issued in the name of the proprietary concern by the Central Government or State Government Authority/ Department, etc.
  • Utility bills such as electricity, water, and landline telephone bills in the name of the proprietary concern.
  • The complete Income Tax return (not just the acknowledgement) in the name of the sole proprietor where the firm’s income is reflected, duly authenticated/ acknowledged by the Income Tax Authorities.

Two of the above documents will suffice. These documents must be in the name of the proprietary concern.

Plus

ID and address proof of the proprietor.
