At around 8:00 AM, Shivam’s grandmother suddenly collapsed at home. Recalling the moment, he wrote that she was unresponsive though her heart was still beating, leaving the family shocked and frightened. They immediately dialed 112, but as the ambulance was delayed, every passing second felt critical.
Shivam then recalled Blinkit’s ambulance feature and quickly opened the app, which showed help could arrive within six minutes. He placed the request without hesitation.
Help Arrived Within Minutes
Within a minute, Shivam received a confirmation call from Blinkit. Just four minutes later, an ambulance arrived at his home with two trained nurses. They promptly checked his grandmother’s vitals, including blood pressure and sugar levels, and discovered her blood sugar had fallen to 40. The team acted swiftly, administered a drip, and within 10 minutes she regained consciousness. She was then safely taken to the hospital, he said.

Shivam said he was taken aback when he asked about the charges. The nurses told him, “This is Blinkit’s trust—we do this for free.” Even when he offered a tip, they politely declined. Reflecting on the experience, Shivam noted that instead of merely donating to an NGO, the company had identified a real problem and created a solution that genuinely saves lives.
Amid ongoing debates and criticism over “10-minute deliveries,” he said such experiences highlight the meaningful impact technology and private companies can have when used responsibly.
Shivam also mentioned the small donation prompts on Blinkit and Zomato, saying he would no longer remove the ₹1–₹2 option at checkout, as such small contributions can sometimes support life-saving efforts.
