A British Airways flight attendant was discovered high and nude in a plane restroom during a voyage from California to London in a strange turn of events. The 41-year-old Haden Pentecost acknowledged working while intoxicated.
On a journey from California to London, a British Airways flight attendant was discovered naked in the restroom while apparently under the influence of drugs.
Prosecutors told Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court that 41-year-old Haden Pentecost became agitated during the trip, “sweating” and “babbling.” Later tests revealed that he had amphetamine and methamphetamine in his system. The BBC reports that British Airways has since fired him.
Pentecost claimed of stomach pain and told the court that he needed to change before locking himself in the bathroom. He was naked and confused when a coworker opened the door. She relocated him to a passenger seat and assisted with his dressing.
A medical officer on board checked on the skipper after informing him. He was checked on by staff every 20 minutes until the plane touched down at Heathrow, where paramedics transported him to the hospital.
His heart rate was elevated and his pupils were dilated, according to the doctors.Pentecost was removed from duty by his management after he had previously neglected to complete pre-flight safety inspections.
He acknowledged using drugs while working, according to NDTV reporting. He was given bail by the judge, and Isleworth Crown judge will decide his sentence later. He and his spouse reside together. This case follows another occurrence involving British Airways earlier this year. During a flight from San Francisco to London, a steward was suspended for dancing nude in a business-class restroom.
During meal service, the staff discovered him gone and incoherent in the restroom. For the remainder of the ten-hour journey, which carried about 470 passengers, he was strapped into a seat and outfitted in First Class pajamas.
Upon arriving, he was taken into custody by police and checked by medical personnel. He allegedly took medications while on job, according to his coworkers. According to one crew member, “he was stripping off and dancing in the bathroom” in place of serving food.
