For the next 24 hours, Mumbai is under red alert for extremely heavy rain, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Since Saturday, heavy rains have been falling on the capital of Maharashtra. The city is at standstill due to the intense rain. The meteorological department’s weekly forecast indicates that Mumbai will get lot of rain until Thursday, August 21. Nonetheless, it is anticipated that the rain would persist throughout the week.

 districts of Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri are also under the red nowcast warning, which calls for periods of intense to extremely intense rain along with gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and even 60 kmph.

IMD posted the following on X: “Madhya Pradesh: Sagar, Balaghat; Mumbai city; Maharashtra: Thane, Pune, Raigad – Red nowcast warning for heavy rain combined with thunderstorm.” Mumbai is under an orange nowcast warning, meaning that there will probably be moderate rainstorms.

The districts of Thane, Palghar, and Ratnagiri are all on orange alert, while Raigad is still under red alert. However, officials stated that starting on Thursday, the intensity of the downpour is anticipated to decrease.
